At first when I read this post, I thought it was a joke. Then I realized you might really be serious. Basically, young players are way underpaid per win than older players. Building exclusively through free agency is cost prohibitive for everyone except maybe the Yankees, although remember that the actual Yankees Dynasty teams of the late 90s-2000 run were built on homegrown stars Jeter, Williams, Rivera, Pettite and Posada. Honestly, Zito is way overpaid for the life of his contract.
