You're right, that scoring call - 3B, with Alfonzo thrown out at the plate - is absolutely wrong. Here's the first sentence of the note from rule 10.07 (Determining the Value of Base Hits in the Official Scorer Section of the MLB rules): "NOTE: Do not credit the batter with a three-base hit when a preceding runner is put out at the plate, or would have been out but for an error. " Seems clear enough to me, but I promise you, minor league official scorers do wierd things all the time. Amen on Gomez, I'm very excited about his ability to adapt to AA.
