Stars of the Day:

AAA: Valentino Pascucci

AA: Bobby Parnell/Dan Murphy

A+: Dylan Owen/Lucas Duda

A: Brant Rustich/Greg Veloz

New Orleans (AAA – Pacific Coast League)

Round Rock Express 3, New Orleans Zephyrs 2 (7 innings)

Round Rock Express 2, New Orleans Zephyrs 1 (7 innings)

In game one, Valentino Pascucci smacked a two-run home run in the fourth inning giving the Zs a 2-0 advantage, but starter Willie Collazo (2-2, 2.96) couldn’t hold the slim lead.  The homer was Pascucci’s 11th in 100 AB with New Orleans.  Collazo gave up three runs on six hits in six innings, walking two and fanning one.  Michel Abreu (.231/.277/.312) was 2-3 with a double.

In game two, New Orleans was held to just four hits.  The Zs scored when CF Jesus Feliciano tripled home 1B Pascucci.  Joselo Diaz (1-5, 6.92) gave up both runs in four innings to suffer the loss.

Binghamton (AA - Eastern League)

Binghamton Mets 6, @ Portland Sea Dogs 2

A six-run eighth is nice, but I’m more interested in Bobby Parnell’s best start of the year.  The righty shut out Portland on five hits through 6.1 innings, fanning five and walking two.

3B Dan Murphy drilled a three run double off the wall in the eighth while 1B Mike Carp was 2-4 with a double of his own.  The offense worked in part because the two guys at the top of the order, Eric Reed and Manny Garcia found their way on base a combined five times.

Tim Lavigne recorded the game’s final two outs, making his 126th B-Mets appearance, a new club record.

St. Lucie (A+ - Florida State League)

Vero Beach 6, @ St. Lucie Mets 4

A night after the Pedro-Price excitement, things returned to normal in Florida; the Mets lost.  The Rays scored four runs off Ryan Coultas and Stephen Clyne in the ninth to come from behind.  In allowing the late surge, St. Lucie wasted a strong performance by Dylan Owen.  Owen (2-4, 3.28) gave up two runs, one earned on four hits in 6.2 innings.  He walked one and struck out eight.

Lucas Duda (.297/.369/.435) was 2-4 with a double and an RBI.

Savannah (A – South Atlantic League)

Augusta Greenjackets 12, @ Savannah Sand Gnats 6

Bad news: Scott Moviel (3-7, 6.24) allowed four runs in 3.2 innings, walking five with one strikeout.  Good news: Brant Rustich tossed 1.2 scoreless frames in relief, fanning two.  Yuck: the Gnats committed five errors, including two by Moviel.

2B Greg Veloz was 2-5 with a triple, his second of the year, and three RBI.  CF Richard Pena, 3B Jake Eigsti and SS Matt Bouchard all had two hits.
