The Zs scored five times in the bottom of the first against Runelvys Hernandez to begin routing Round Rock. With two outs, five batters in a row reached base, four by extra base hit. Chris Aguila (.309/.385/.544 in 68 AB) brought home two runs with a triple. Fernando Tatis was hit by a pitch, while RBI doubles from Jesus Feliciano, Caleb Stewart (.203/.227/.359 in 64 AB) and Mike Nickeas (.240/.286/.400 in 25 AB) plated runs. Stewart and Aguila each added a two run jacks in the fourth and sixth innings respectively.
Adam Bostick (2-1, 2.97) enjoyed a season-high in runs for support, but hardly needed it. Bostick tossed six one-run innings, allowing just two hits. However, he walked three batters, two in the first, and struck out three. Tim McNab yielded four unearned runs in the seventh helped out by four Zephyrs errors one each from Tatis and Anderson Hernandez and two from Argenis Reyes. Hernandez has already committed five uh-ohs this year.

Mets (10-11, -4.5) 2, @ Portland Sea Dogs (14-6) 0
The Red Sox ruined the exciting pitching match-up between prospects Jon Niese and Justin Masterson. Masterson had other plans, including making his big league debut in front of 37,000+ at Fenway against the Angels, and his former teammates who watched on the video board at Hadlock Field. He pitched well over six innings, allowing just a run on two hits despite walking four.
Jon Niese (2-1, 0.71) meanwhile, just kept mowing down Eastern League batters. Niese tossed six shutout innings, walking two and striking out five. Niese has a strikeout to walk ratio above 3 (22/7) and has allowed just one homer in 25.1 IP. Eddie Kunz struck out one batter in a perfect ninth for his fourth save.
In the
sixth, in a scoreless game, Fernando
Martinez singled, stole second, and scored on a Dan Murphy (.398/.441/.530) single to right. In the seventh,

Tobi Stoner’s 2008 debut wasn’t enough to prevent the Mets from dropping their 10th straight. The 23-year old took the loss for allowing two runs on four hits and two walks in 3.1 innings. Bullpen arsonists Jonathan Castillo, Roy Merritt and Brandon Nall each allowed more Daytona runs.
Lucas Duda (.361/.424/.482 in 83 AB) and Ezequiel Carrera (.264/.333/.379) were each 2-4. Carrera scored a run, while Duda drove one home.

Braves (9-12) 5, @ Savannah Sand Gnats (6-15, -12.0) 4
When the Braves Freddie Freeman went deep against Gnats reliever Edgar Ramirez in the eighth inning, he snapped a 4-4 tie, and sent the Gnats to their fifth loss in a row. Starter Michael Antonini was untouchable through five, but appeared to run out of gas in the sixth. Working with a 1-0 lead, he gave up a game tying homer and after an error, and a single, yielded a three run bomb that put the Gnats in a 4-1 hole. Antonini, in an encouraging development, fanned six and didn’t walk a batter.
The Gnats
rallied to tie the score with a three-run bottom of the seventh. SS Matt
Bouchard brought his bugs within a run with a two-run triple and scored to
