1. The Phillies did well to pick up Brad Lidge as cheaply as they did.  …. Dan Szymborski’s ZIPS projection system, likes Kevin Mulvey more than both Philip Humber and Kevin Mulvey in 2008.  Check out the entire Mets team too.

2. At MiLB.com Kevin Czerwinski writes about Eddie Kunz.

3. Arizona Fall League

Scottsdale Scorpions

Mike Carp – Carp took the collar Wednesday, but that snapped a nice three-game stretch where he was 5-11 with a couple of doubles.  He’s hitting .229/.293/.313 in the AFL

Mike Nickeas – After an 0-4 Monday, he’s down to .156/.250/.219.

Caleb Stewart – Stewart returned to the Scorpions lineup Monday, and was 1-4 with a bomb, his fifth in six AFL games.  So he’s 7-for-23 with 5 HR.

Adam Bostick – With five scoreless innings Tuesday, Bostick lowered his AFL ERA to 1.42.  In his five innings, he gave up five hits and two walks, but struck out three.  His 19 innings and 18 strikeouts are third in the league in both categories.  His AFL performance has been a real bright spot for the Mets this winter.

Eddie Camacho (0-2, 3.52 ERA) – 7.2 IP, 13 H, 1 BB, 6 k

Eddie Kunz  - a scoreless inning Monday lowered his ERA to 12.46.

Carlos Muniz (0-1, 3.60 ERA) – 10 IP, 11 H, 5 BB, 8 K

4. Hawaii Winter Baseball

Waikiki Beach Boys

The HWB has been off for three days.  The gap in the schedule was intended for a US vs. Pacific All-Star game, but the Japanese teams didn’t send enough players to fill out a full roster, so the league took a quick break.  Me, I went to Big Island and went SCUBA diving with an old friend.  I didn’t see any large critters – turtles, dolpins or sharks, but was happy with a few Manta Rays on a night dive, morey eels, 100’ visibility and many cool reef fish including the dragon wrasse.

5. Venezuelan Winter League

Angel Calero – In 4.2 innings, Calero has allowed just one run, and struck out five.  However, he’s walked six and bounced two wild pitches.

Ender Chavez - .333/.333/.500 in 6 AB….

Jesus Feliciano

Luis Matos

Ivan Maldonado

Jose Sanchez

If I didn’t put numbers next to a player’s name, it’s just because I didn’t feel like it.

Mexican Pacific League

Brett Harper – Hasn’t played in weeks

Dominican Winter League

Carlos Gomez - .200/.250/.233 in 30 AB

Victor Mendez

Miguel Negron

Fernando Tatis

Andy Tracy - .238/.304/.33 after six games.

If I didn’t put numbers next to a player’s name it’s just because I didn’t feel like it.

6.         Purely for entertainment only, I’m linking to Scout.com’s Top 50 Mets Prospects.  I’m not going to go through the rankings one-by-one, but the thing as a whole makes little sense to me.  What facts were considered?  How were they weighted?
