The two rookie ball teams combined for 30 runs last night and Philip Humber makes his first appearance in AA in 2006 Friday night.

I learned a new dice game last night: 41-24.

Stars of the Day:

AAA: Michael Tucker

AA: Carlos Gomez

A+: Caleb Stewart

A: Bobby Parnell/Benavidez

SSA: Duane Privett

R (APP): Emmanuel Garcia
R (GCL): Joaquin Rodriguez

Norfolk (AAA - International League)

@ Buffalo 8, Norfolk 2

Michael Tucker was the only Tide with two hits, and his double was the only extra base hit among the Tides six.

Evan MacLane was touched for seven runs on eight hits in four innings.  Two of the eight hits he gave up were bombs.

The loss is the Tides fourth in a row and 18th in their last 25.

Binghamton (AA - Eastern League)

Binghamton 5 , @ New Britain 3

The B-Mets scored five in the top of the eighth to come from behind and make Miguel Pinago (7-6, 3.87) a winner.  Carlos Gomez’s three hits in a 3-4 night led the Binghamton offense.   Jay Caligiuri added a 2-4 as did Joe Hietpas.

Henry Owens nailed down the save, his 17th in AA, with two strikeouts.

Philip Humber throws Friday against the Connecticut Defenders, the SF Giants EL affiliate.

St. Lucie (A+ - Florida State League)

@ Clearwater 5, St. Lucie 2

Caleb Stewart (.231/.317/.462 in 44 AB) doubled and homered.  Enrique Cruz was the only other Met with two hits.

Hagerstown (A – South Atlantic League)

@ Augusta 3, Hagerstown 2

A leadoff HR from Fernando Martinez put the Suns up 1-0 in the first, but the Giants Julian Benavidez answered back with a two run shot off Bobby Parnell in the second inning.  Parnell otherwise was strong allowing three runs, two earned in his six innings.  He fanned four and walked two.

Brooklyn (SSA – New York Penn League)

Brooklyn 9, @ Oneonta 2

No homeruns but four doubles were enough for the Cyclones offense in support of Duane Privett, making his second start his since promotion from Kingsport.  Privett allowed two runs on five hits in six innings pitched.

Kingsport Mets (R – Appalachian League)

@ Kingsport 18, Bluefield 9

Emmanuel Garcia was 3-6 with a two run HR and 4 RBI from the top of the order.  Alejandro Zuaznabar only needed one hit- a 3 run HR in the third, to drive home three.  Rightfielder Daniel Green was 2-4 with three runs scored.  Junior Contreras was 1-2 with a double and 2 RBI, but left the game early.

GCL Mets (R – Gulf Coast League)

@ GCL Mets 12, GCL Nationals 9

The Nationals scored six runs in the first, but after closing within a run, the Mets took the lead with a six run sixth.

Thirdbaseman Joaquin Rodriguez was 4-5 with a double and a triple and 2 RBI.  Centerfielder Daniel Stegall was 3-4 with a double and 2 RBI.
