Busy few days of roster activity all over baseball, so we’ll play a little catch up.  Monday, the Mets promoted Philip Humber from St. Lucie to and Joe Smith from Brooklyn to AA Binghamton.  Humber, who last threw Saturday, leaves the Florida State League a commanding 3-1, with a 2.37 ERA, a K/BB of 4, and a .178 opponents batting average.  He’d allowed one earned run in his last four starts.  Smith, this year’s third round pick, was dominating the NYP League, with 28 K in 20 IP and an opp AVG of .141.  Over at Baseball Prospectus, Kevin Goldstein today writes that Joe Smith has a “plus-plus” slider in his review of the Mets farmsystem.  Pitchers Tim McNab and Robert Paulk were each returned to the FSL.

Wednesday, the roster fun continued with an exchange of catchers: Mike DiFelice to AAA, and Joe Hietpas to Binghamton.

Also, Kevin Deaton made his first appearance of the year in last night’s GCL game.  The 6’5” righthander, who was 3-4, with a 4.19 ERA last year for Binghamton will turn 25 on Monday.
