Norfolk (AAA - International League)

@ Norfolk 2, Indianapolis 0

 

            Willie Collazo dealt seven shutout innings with five strikeouts to earn his third win in Norfolk.  Tim Lavigne struck out four in his two innings for his third save as a Tide.

            The Tides offense managed only three hits, but one of them was Rueben Gotay’s first HR as a Met in the fifth inning. 

 

Binghamton (AA - Eastern League)

@ Binghamton 6, New Hampshire 1

 

            Miguel Perez was very sharp over eight innings allowing just one run on six hits.  He fanned seven and walked three.

            Michel Abreu was 3-3 with a three run double in the fifth as the B-Mets cruised to their sixth straight victory.  Chase Lambin reached base all four times he went to the plate in a 2-2 night with a double, and 2 walks.  Carlos Gomez ran his hit streak to 18 straight with a 1-3 night with an RBI. 

 

St. Lucie (A+ - Florida State League)

Sarasota 6, @ St. Lucie 3

 

            Starter Blake Eager left a 3-3 game to the bullpen after five innings, but Chuck Smith was tagged for three runs in the next 2.1 innings for his fifth FSL loss.

            Corey Coles doubled in a 2-4 night and Jamar Hill drilled a solo HR in another 2-4 night. 

 

Hagerstown (A – South Atlantic League)

@ Hagerstown 8, Kannapolis 5

 

            Jon Niese was strong again, dealing 5.1 innings with six strikeouts.  He gave up one run on three hits and a walk for his 10th win of the year, lowering his ERA to 3.42.  Jesus Gamero drove home five runs in a 2-3 afternoon with a sac fly.  Jose Castro

 

Brooklyn (SSA – New York Penn League)

@ Brooklyn 4, Mahoning Valley 1

 

            Nelson Portillo allowed one run in his six innings of work.  He didn’t walk anyone and didn’t strike out a batter either.  While his numbers overall are strong, (2-2, 2.92) he’s not missing many NYP League bats (18 K in 37 IP), as you might hope to see. 

 

Kingsport Mets (R – Appalachian League)

@ Kingsport 6, Bristol 3

 

            Catcher Sean McCraw had the best night of any of the Kingsport batters, going 2-4 with a bomb and 2 RBI.  Alejandro Zuaznabar also added a pair of hits in a 2-4 night.  Kingsport needed only 4 RBI to score 6 runs.

            Starter Greg Mullens earned the win in his five innings, but walked four. 

GCL Mets (R – Gulf Coast League)

@ GCL Mets 4, GCL Dodgers 0

 

            Dave Williams returned to action and stuck out seven GCL hitters in five innings, while allowing just one basehit. 

            Matthew Spath (2-4) was the only guy in the lineup with multiple hits.
