Norfolk Tides (AAA - International League)

Charlottte 13, Norfolk 6

Starters Jason Scobie and Jeriome Robertson were hit hard early in both ends of a doublheader as the Tides were swept by Charlotte, Saturday.

Scobie, now 1-11, put Norfolk in a six-run hole after four innings, while Knights’ starter Heath Phillips (10-2) kept the Tides' bats at bay, scattering five hits and one run in pitching the seven-inning complete game for the win. Victor Diaz was the lone Norfolk hitter to get more than one hit, slashing a pair of singles.

The nightcap got even worse for Norfolk, as Robertson (1-6) was battered for 9 earned runs in 2-plus innings of work. Tim Lavigne wasn’t much better out of the pen, giving up four runs in two innings of work. Second baseman Anderson Hernandez was the offensive star of the game for the Tides, collecting three hits and driving in a run.

Binghamton Mets (AA - Eastern League)
 Binghamton 6, Harrisburg 1

Staked to an early lead, B-Mets starter Tim McNab shut down Harrisburg and Michel Abreu drove in three runs to lead Binghamton to the win.

McNab (3-2) allowed just four hits, striking out five without a walk, working 5.1 scoreless innings. Abreu had two hits, including a two-run double in the fourth, while Wilson Batista had three hits and scored three times. OF Ambiorex Concepcion went 0-for-3 in his debut after being called up from St. Lucie.

Port St. Lucie Mets (A Advanced - Florida State League)
 St. Lucie 5, Jupiter 3

Red-hot Corey Coles stroked three hits and drove in a pair of runs, while Chuck Smith threw five strong innings to earn the win for St. Lucie.

Smith (2-4) scattered four hits and one run in his five innings, while Carlos Muniz got the final two outs of the game to pick up his 16th save of the season. Coles with his three-hit night, all singles, raised his season batting average to .335.

Hagerstown Suns (A - South Atlantic League)
 Lakewood 2, Hagerstown 0

The Suns wasted a strong outing by starter Bobby Parnell — and were limited to just two hits by Lakewood. Parnell gave up just two hits and two runs in seven innings of work but was outdueled by Joshua Outman, who allowed just two hits and no runs in his seven innings of work. 

Nick Evans singled and Leivi Ventura doubled for the Suns’ lone hits of the night.

Saturday night’s game was rained out and is tentatively rescheduled for July 30th as part of a doubleheader.
